My mom baked the cake and made the icing and I showed up just in time to decorate it. I designed the "It's a girl" bunting to hang as the cake topper. It was so beautiful, I want to make the same cake for my daughter's birthday next month!
I loved the "Late Night Diapers" idea on Pinterest and used that as an ice breaker activity for our guests. Guests write a note to the mom and dad on diapers--It's a great way to encourage the new mom and dad-to-be on those tough, exhausting nights (or at least give them a laugh!)
But the best part was creating the iron-on transfer onesies for the baby! I created several custom designs and sayings that connect with the mom and dad-to-be. They are printed using Avery Printable Fabric for Inkjet Printers and then cut out with scissors. Then you iron them on for 5 seconds and it's done! Guests LOVED this event and the mom-to-be was happiest of all. It was personal, fun, useful, and great decoration for the party hung on a clothesline.
For simple games to use once the guests have gathered, we played the Baby Animal Game (Whale babies are calves, Deer babies are fawns, etc.). And then Bingo--have your guests fill out the Bingo card with items they think the mom-to-be will open while opening presents. Then as mom opens presents, the guests mark off things that are opened and try to get Bingo first.
I made stickers from the flower illustrations that I used on the backs of the envelopes and then on our party favors (Homemade Lavender Sea Salt Scrubs in 4 ounce jars!). It was such a fun day.
